The oral health of your pet is a very important aspect of their overall health. Dental disease is a painful condition caused by bacteria infecting the gums and teeth that can be prevented. Cleanings which include ultrasonic scaling, polishing and full oral examinations are performed routinely at our hospital. Dental radiographs and extractions can also be performed when necessary. All pets are anesthetized for these procedures as it is not possible to perform a proper dental cleaning otherwise. Just like humans, we highly suggest preventative care before and after dental cleanings. When purchasing dental products for your pet, look for the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) label so you know you are providing your pet with the best products possible.
